Women's Development Cell
The Women Development Cell in B.B. College has actively promoted counselling to Students' to make them aware of their own capabilities and the potentials while sensitizing them to various issues of society, especially gender issues. For this a counselor has been appointed to help solve student problems. The Cell empowers women by helping to develop their skill by building their confidence and honing their latent leadership qualities. This is done through a series of seminars, debates, lectures, workshops, film screenings, theater and self defense training camps.
Gender Sensitization
We are extremely alert to matters pertaining to sexual harassment and gender insensitivity. Our statutory committee, comprising members from the teaching and non-teaching staff, and students look into the matters related to sexual harassment of the students and staff in the college. Any person agreed in this matter may fearlessly approach the committee for a fair and concerned hearing and speedy redressal.
International Women’s Day Celebration-2021
The Women’s Cell of Banwarilal Bhalotia College Asansol under the aegis of IQAC and in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Paschim Bardhaman (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India) and Lion’s Club of Asansol East has organised the “International Women’s Day” celebrationProgram on 8th March, 2021. There were around one hundred and thirty five registered participants, the majority are the students and teachers of B. B. College, Asansol, distinguished persons from Lions Club Asansol and representatives and volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra. The program was initiated by Dr. Snigdha Roy, Convenor of Women’s Cell with her brief inaugural speech. Prof. Baijayanti Mukherjee beautifully recited a very relevant poem named “Sita”. After the felicitation program, Dr. Amitava Basu, the Principal of the College then delivered his speech explaining the significance and purpose of the program to be organized. The first invited guest of the program, Dr. Savera Sharma shared her speech on the topic of “Changing the Role of Women”. The other speakers were Prof. Madhumita Jajodia, Principal of Durgapur Women’s College and Mr. Pradip Saha, the Deputy Youth Coordinator of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Paschim Bardhaman, Ministry of Youth affairs for Spots, Government of India. Mr. Surendra Kr. Kamani, the President of Lion’s Club of Asansol East and Secretary Mrs. Jayanti Mallik along with their distinguished colleagues honoured Dr. Amitava Basu with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship.
